FAQ
1 / Can I use insurance?
Yes! Kind and Quirky Psychotherapy is partnered with Headway and Alma to manage insurance and billing services. If you would like to use your insurance benefits, you can check out the Alma and Headway online platforms to verify your benefits before getting started. You'll receive information about whether your sessions will be covered, what percentage will be covered, and their procedures for reimbursement. Reimbursements are made at your insurance provider’s discretion.
If utilizing out-of-network benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill to be submitted for reimbursement from your insurance provider. You always have the choice to use your insurance benefits or to pay full session fees independently. It is ultimately your responsibility to understand your benefits to the best of your abilities. If you choose to pay fee for service, you determine if the services are necessary, and how you would like to structure your treatment goals and progress.
*Please read Note 5 'Will I have a diagnosis?'
2 / Can I see you in person?
All sessions are provided via telehealth. I understand this won't feel right for everyone and if you are wanting in person sessions I can give you some referrals to other providers.
3 / What if it doesn't seem like the right fit?
If at any time you feel like "I don't know about this Natalie lady..." you can cancel sessions. You can tell me, you can ghost me, you can text me, whatever feels right for you. With that being said, therapy is about working through discomfort and sometimes it is incredibly helpful to talk about missed opportunities and to collaborate on what isn't working. I encourage you to talk to me first before leaving and if that doesn't help I'm also happy to give you referrals to other providers.
4 / How often do we meet?
What's most important is establishing a working relationship, which requires at least biweekly sessions for the first three to five meetings. From there, frequency can vary from weekly, biweekly, monthly, or as needed. This is usually determined based on acuteness of symptoms, time available, and finances.
5 / Will I have a diagnosis?
In order to utilize your insurance benefits you must have a qualifying mental health diagnosis. You are entitled to know your diagnosis and we will discuss it together so you understand how it informs your therapy.
When using your insurance, a diagnosis is required, which may or may not be a benefit for future employment, securing other insurance policies (ex: life insurance) or for establishing pre-existing clauses. The Affordable Care Act provides legislation to protect against fee increases or denial of services based on pre-existing conditions, however, this protection may change in the future and not all insurance plans fall under the ACA or provide full range of protections.
6 / How are sessions conducted?
Sessions are conducted via Simple Practice, you will receive a session link on the day of your meeting along with meeting reminders beforehand.
7 / What are Headway and Alma?
Headway and Alma are companies that provides insurance billing support for Kind and Quirky Therapy. If you are choosing to use your in network insurance benefits, you will need to have either a Headway or Alma account to verify your benefits and process payment for session.
